Chelsea news: Maurizio Sarri’s furious reaction as Ruben Loftus-Cheek goes down with injury during friendly

Maurizio Sarri appeared to be furious on the sidelines after Ruben Loftus-Cheek picked up an injury during Chelsea’ friendly against New England Revolution on Wednesday evening

The midfielder left the stadium on crutches with his left foot in a protective boot amid fears he has suffered ligament damage –  and early reports suggest the 23-year-old is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The injury has come as a bitter blow to Sarri, whose side face Arsenal in the final of the Europa League in Baku in a week’s time

And the Italian manager was clearly furious on the sidelines at the sight of Loftus-Cheek heaped on the floor in agony.

While the England international was down receiving treatment, the Blues boss walked back to the dugout and threw his coat on the floor in rage.

Loftus-Cheek has had several minor injuries this season but has recently become an integral player in Sarri’s line-up in recent months

However, it is now almost certain the playmaker will miss the crucial match against Arsenal on May 23, and potentially a great deal longer.

However, in some good news for Blues fans, reports suggest Callum Hudson-Odoi is close to penning a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The youngster will reportedly sign the long-term deal to commit his future to the Blues and put an end to rumours linking him with a move away in the summer.
