Tottenham Hotspur rejected lucrative moves from three clubs last summer for Christian Eriksen.
That’s according to the player’s representative, who spoke in the wake of Eriksen’s bomb shell about his future in north London.
In an interview with tabloid newspaper Ekstrabladet in his home country of Denmark, the midfielder suggested it was time to move on after six years of service to Spurs.
The 27-year-old will be out of contract at the end of next season, meaning Spurs may have to accept a lower fee for his services if he does not sign a new deal.
But this situation could have been avoided a year ago following a revelation made by Eriksen’s representative Martin Schoots.
“Last season there were three clubs, two English and one foreign, interested in paying a huge amount to Spurs,” Schoots told the Evening Standard. “For the club it was then a no go area and for Christian not a must-have.
“I have the impression we are in a new situation now.”

Although it is unclear just who the clubs were exactly, one would assume the foreign club mentioned by Schoots is Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder for several years, with Zinedine Zidane a huge admirer of the Dane.
Chelsea and Manchester United have also been heavily linked in recent transfer windows, although a move never transpired.
