Champions League final: Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has a worryingly bad record against Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Mauricio Pochettino will lock horns with Jurgen Klopp for the third time this season in the Champions League Final.

Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, a game you can hear live on talkSPORT from 8pm.

The two sides have met twice in the Premier League already this season, with Klopp’s men emerging from both contests with all three points.

Back in September, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino struck at a sun-kissed Wembley to ensure Erik Lamela’s strike was a mere consolation.

While Liverpool’s title hopes were kept alive thanks to a stoppage time own goal by Toby Alderweireld in front of the Kop.

For Pochettino, this has become a rather regular sensation when coming up against his German counterpart.

The Argentine has beaten Klopp just ONCE from nine previous meetings between the pair.

That sole victory came in 2017 when Harry Kane ran riot at Wembley in a 4-1 win.

LONDON (REUTERS) - Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has urged the club to "solve the problem" of Eden Hazard's future, amid speculation that the Belgian winger will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Hazard, who has one-and-a-half years remaining on his Chelsea deal, said he will not make a decision on his long-term future until the end of the campaign, which did nothing to stop the persistent rumours linking him to Real Madrid.
Asked what he thought Hazard would do, Sarri told a news conference on Friday (Dec 28): "I don't know. I speak to him only about the position on the pitch. But I think that it's time to decide.
"I think we have to solve the problem. If we want to plan the future, we have to solve this problem."
Hazard boasts a hand in 19 Premier League goals this season, more than any other player, and was again on the scoresheet with a brace in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Watford on Boxing Day.
While Hazard prefers to play on the wing, Sarri has used him in a central "false-nine" role during the last few matches and may do so again for Sunday's trip to Crystal Palace.
With strikers Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata struggling to score on a regular basis, the Italian manager expects Hazard to shoulder most of the goalscoring responsibility.
"He played four matches as false number nine, and he scored three goals and two assists," Sarri said.
"I am really very happy with him in this position, because he's very able to score, first of all, but he's very able to open spaces for the team mates, to come and play with the team mates.
"But in the future he can also play as a winger of course."
Sarri also ruled out Pedro for at least 10 days with a hamstring problem.
The Spanish forward picked up the injury in the first half at Vicarage Road and was replaced by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has been nursing a hamstring problem of his own and was taken off in the 85th minute.
"We have two problems, the first more serious with Pedro," Sarri said.
"A hamstring injury and I think that he will have to rest for about 10 days.
"The second problem was Odoi, it's not as serious but I don't think he will play in the next match."

Real Madrid have received a bid for wantaway captain Sergio Ramos, says president Florentino Perez.

The Spain centre-half has been with the club since moving from Sevilla in 2005, but he could be about to end his time in the capital following a disappointing season for both himself and the team.

Ramos and Perez have suffered a severe breakdown in their relationship after reportedly clashing in the changing room after the Champions League exit to Ajax in March.

Perez allegedly threatened to sack Ramos in front of the entire squad, to which the captain responded by telling his boss he would be happy to leave if he was paid the rest of his contract.

Ramos missed the second leg of the Ajax game after deliberately getting himself booked in the dying moments of the first match in a tactical ploy that eventually backfired.

The 33-year-old is tempted by a move to China and in a meeting with Perez, René Ramos, his brother and agent along with Julio Senn, his lawyer, requested he be given a free transfer.

“He [Ramos] came to see me in my office and said that he might leave without a transfer fee,” Perez said on Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“I told him he can’t leave”.

“They [Ramos’ representatives] asked to see me and they said they had a good offer from a club in China but that because of the law in China they could not offer a transfer fee.

“Clearly it is out of the question that Real Madrid lets its captain leave for free. It would set a dangerous precedent.”

Ramos has even been linked with a move to Liverpool, but is public enemy number one on Merseyside, following his involvement with Mohamed Salah in last year’s Champions League final.

The Bluebirds led 1-0 with six minutes left to play but were pegged back when Cesar Azpilicueta, who was standing two yards offside, met Marcos Alonso’s flick-on to head home the equaliser.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek punished Cardiff further in stoppage time, leaving Cardiff to count the cost of assistant referee Eddie Smart’s failure to spot that Azpilicueta was clearly offside.

Warnock blasted Premier League officials as “the worst in the world” and went on to suggest that he may field the kids against Man City ahead of next weekend’s visit to relegation rivals Burnley,

He said: “We keep getting knock-backs. I will probably play the U23s on Wednesday against Manchester City and try to keep it down to 10 or 11.

“It doesn’t matter who you play at the minute, it is who has a flag in his hand and who has a whistle.”

He added: “If I was a Burnley, Southampton or a Brighton fan, they will be absolutely loving it today.

“I’ve had one kick in the teeth after another this season and the players have as well. But we’ve always bounced back. So we’ll probably play the 23s at City and get ready for Burnley.”

Should Warnock play a weakened side against City, it could land Cardiff in trouble with the Premier League and have huge ramifications on the title race.

Liverpool top the table following their dramatic victory over Tottenham on Sunday but City – who have played a game less – will move back on top should they beat Cardiff.

Warnock stood on the pitch crestfallen after the full-time whistle of the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea – staring at the match officials without saying a word.

As well as Azpilicueta’s offside equaliser,  Warnock felt that Cardiff should have had two penalties, both for Chelsea players holding Sean Morrison’s shirt at set-pieces.

Antonio Rudiger, Warnock added, should also have been sent off for dragging down Kenneth Zohore with the score at 1-1 and the Cardiff substitute through on goal.

“It’s almost like it’s not who you play, it’s who you get to referee and who is going to have a flag in their hand nowadays, it’s just as important,” Warnock said.

“The best league in the world and probably the worst officials at the minute.

“He (Smart) is saying that Willian blocked his view, but it wasn’t a six inches one. Either side you should be able to see he’s two yards offside.

“It’s soul-destroying really. I can understand why the lads are down.”

What clubs has he played for?

Bruno Fernandes started off with Portuguese side Boavista but did not play any first-team games for them.

He joined Serie B side Novara in 2012, making 23 appearances in his first season before Udinese signed him on a co-ownership deal and nurtured his talents for three seasons, where he scored 11 goals in 95 games.

A season at Sampdoria followed before an £7million transfer to Sporting before the 2017/18 season.

He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last term, bagging 31 goals in 50 appearances for the Portuguese giants.

What is his style of play?

Fernandes is a central midfielder who has been compared to Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos.

He likes to play further up the pitch to create chances for his attackers, playing through balls and shooting from distance.

Ex-United boss Jose Mourinho recently admitted he’s been ‘surprised’ by the superb performances of his compatriot in recent months.

“I was surprised by the season of Bruno,” he told Eleven Sports. “It was easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but scored a very high number of goals for a midfield player.

“It shows that you need to have instinct and qualities to score and he has it all.

“He strikes the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He finds space in the penalty area. It’s all there.”

International career

Fernandes did not receive his first call up until in 2017 but was in Portugal’s World Cup squad and has 11 caps for his country, scoring once.

Who are interested in him?

United have been keeping tabs on him in recent weeks and head up a list of English big guns in the hunt for his signature.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton have all been linked with his talents.

However, it has been suggested recently that the Red Devils are frontrunners for him and may even submit a bid in the region of £62m this summer.

The transfer tussle over Fernandes is likely to intensify once his involvement at the Nations League is done.
