Referee Mike Dean celebrates Tranmere reaching League Two play-off final in crowd with fans

Do you think Mike Dean enjoyed watching Tranmere book a place at Wembley?

The Premier League referee, a lifelong fan of the club, punched the air at full-time as his side won their League Two play-off semi-final against Forest Green.

Dean had refereed Arsenal’s Premier League win against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, but still had plenty of energy 24 hours later to cheer James Norwood’s goal – his 32nd of the season – against his former club, which earned Micky Mellon’s side a 2-1 aggregate win.

Rovers are aiming for back-to-back promotions, having gone up through the National League play-offs last season and will face Newport County at Wembley on Saturday, 25 May.
