Ahead of the 2019 Champions League final, talkSPORT.com is looking back at some of the most memorable moments from previous finals.
Liverpool face Tottenham in an all-English final for the first time since 2008, when Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties to win the trophy.
Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino have been criticised for failing to win silverware with the Reds and Spurs, respectively, but one of them will end the season with European football’s biggest prize.
It is set to be an entertaining final with the likes of Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah going head-to-head on June 1.
Below, we take a look at No.3 on our list of iconic Champions League moments as John Terry’s slip in a penalty shootout proved costly against Manchester United 11 years ago.

No.3 – John Terry’s slip
Both sides had to get through gruelling semi-finals to make it to Moscow. Manchester United beat Barcelona, while Liverpool took Chelsea to extra-time as Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba scored vital goals to book their place in the final.
Ahead of what was always likely to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s final game for United, he was set to go off in style when he opened the scoring in the 26th minute. The winger connected with Wes Brown’s cross to send a powerful header past a helpless Petr Cech.
The Blues keeper then made an outstanding double save to deny Carlos Tevez and Michael Carrick, which stopped Sir Alex Ferguson’s side from doubling their lead.
Chelsea were level just before the break as Michael Essien’s speculative shot took two deflections before fortuitously landing into the path of Frank Lampard, who coolly slotted home from close-range.
With the scores level after 90 minutes and then 30 minutes of extra time, the final was decided on penalties.
Cech put Chelsea into the driving seat when he saved Ronaldo’s penalty – and after four perfect spot-kick from the Blues, Terry had the chance to win it for his club.
But in dramatic fashion, the Chelsea captain slipped and hit the post, gifting United a lifeline.
And it was a lifeline they took as Anderson and Ryan Giggs converted their penalties before Nicolas Anelka had his decisive spot-kick saved by Edwin Van der Ser as United won the shootout 6-5.
