Paul Gascoigne exclusive: Gazza confirms he WILL play in Tottenham legends game and is ‘buzzing’ about new stadium

Paul Gascoigne joked he hopes to impress England manager Gareth Southgate enough to earn a Three Lions recall when he plays in the upcoming Tottenham legends match!

The White Hart Lane hero confirmed he WILL play in the all-star exhibition game at soon-to-be-opened Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

A host of iconic Tottenham players have been invited to pull on the white shirt again for a game against an Inter Milan legends side, for the second test event of their new £1billion home ground.

Jurgen Klinsmann, Rafael van der Vaart and Robbie Keane will be back on the pitch for Spurs, but fans have been most excited about the potential return of Gazza.

Club legend Gary Mabbutt admitted to talkSPORT on Wednesday that Gascoigne’s appearance will depend on his fitness.

But, after posting a video on social media of a training run ahead of the game, Gazza has insisted he is ready and is ‘buzzing’ to play in front of the Tottenham supporters again.

But, speaking to Jim White, he admitted it’s not just the Spurs fans he wants to impress with his performance…

The England hero said: “I’m available for selection if Gary Mabbutt wants to pick me, haha!

“I can’t wait for the game, I’m buzzing for it. I’m so exciting and it’ll be such a great buzz to see the fans again.

“I’m a bit nervous, believe it or not, because everyone wants me to play the way I used to play, but I’m getting on a bit!

“But I’ve been doing a lot of training with Shane, my manager. I’ve been playing 9-a-side, I’ve been on a bike and I’m just enjoying life.

“Who knows, if I play well Gareth Southgate might give us a shout!

“I honestly cannot wait. The new stadium looks amazing, doesn’t it? Wow, almighty.”
